The Probate Process
Probate is the formal process by which an Executor or Administrator is appointed by the Register of Wills Office to oversee the administration of a loved one’s Estate. The process is typically initiated by obtaining either Letters Testamentary (if there is a Will) or Letters of Administration (if the Decedent died without having made a Will). As Pittsburgh Probate Attorneys we perform the following:
The Steps We Take To Help You
- We’ll petition the court to have you appointed as either Executor or Administrator
- We’ll assist you in securing and managing all of the estate assets
- We’ll deal with the claims of any and all creditors of the estate
- We’ll prepare and file the necessary inheritance and estate tax returns
- We’ll prepare the pleadings required to close the estate and make a final distribution of the estate assets
Don’t Pay Hourly Fees!
When you hire an estate attorney on an hourly basis, you will literally have no idea what you’re actually going to pay until you get to the end of the probate process. You may be in for an unpleasant surprise when you find out just how much you’ve been paying for those phone calls, letters and other communications. We provide our flat fee agreements in writing so you’ll know in advance exactly how much you’re going to pay and we also don’t expect to be paid until the probate process has been completed.
